NEW YORK – The first day of Ramadan will be observed in United States and Canada on June 18, according to a directive issued by an Islamic organisation for the Muslim community.
The month of Ramadan in USA and Canada will start with gulf countries. Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) said that all Muslim communities of America and Canada will start fast on the same day.
On the other hand, Moon sighting organisation also confirmed that moon was not sighted in any part of America so fasting month will start on June 18.
Muslims will offer first Traveeh on June 17.
Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon and US President Barack Hussein Obama offered their best wishes to Muslims celebrating the holy month of Ramadan across the globe.
Earlier, the moon for Ramadan was not sighted in Saudi Arabia including Gulf and Middle Eastern countries, Thenewstribe.com learnt from Arab TV.
According to Arab TV, meeting of moon sightings committee was called on the appeal of Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court. The committee didn’t receive acknowledgments of moon sighting from different parts of the country.
The fasting in the peninsula will begin on Thursday (June 18).
