LONDON – First day of Ramadan will start in UK and Europe on Wednesday if crescent seen today (Tuesday), Thenewstribe.com reported.
Most of the time Muslim community starts Ramadan with gulf countries.
Earlier, In Pakistan Ruet-e-Hilal Committe is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to sight the moon of the holy month of Ramadan 2015.
The committee members said that the first of Ramadan was expected on Friday, June 19, however the official announcement would be made after the meeting in meteorological department in Karachi on June 17.
Meteorological department official said that there were less chances of sighting the moon of the holy month of Ramadan on June 17, adding that it was expected that the moon could be sighted on June 18.
However sources said that first of Ramadan was likely to be welcomed on Friday, June 19.
Muslims all over the world will observe a month of fasting and prayers during Ramadan, which is considered to be one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, and commemorates the time that the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed on the night of “Laylat Al Qadr”.
Muslims fast from dawn to dusk every day, and also observe sexual abstinence.
