England’s brilliant chase halted by rain

LONDON: England were inches away to bag a historic win against New Zealand chasing 398 runs in second match at Oval, when rain came down.

In pursue of a mammoth total England were 345/7 after 43.5 overs requiring 54 more runs from 37 balls when rain stopped play.

England looked positive and promising throughout their inning despite having a giant target to follow.

If chased, it would be the second highest total chased in ODIs after South Africa’s 434 chase against Australia back in 2006.

England are 1-0 up in a 5-match series.

However, England are still 9 runs short according Duckworth-Lewis method which makes New Zealand an ultimate winner if play did not resume.
