Height of Mount Everest declined due to Nepal Earthquake

KHATMANDU- A devastating earthquake of Nepal on April 25 has not only crumbled the whole region, induced thousands of fatalities but also brought changes in the earth permanently.

Scientists have confirmed that it has caused the highest peak of the world, Mount Everest to decline by 1 inch (2.5 cm) whilst having the original height 8,848 meters.

Moreover it has caused the earth level to rise by 1 meter. The evidence has been given by US scientists of UNAVCO, a nonprofit consortium facilitating geoscience research.

The information is sourced from Europe’s Sentinel-1A radar satellite. Whereas two more shocks were recorded on Friday morning which according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of Nepal are aftershocks of the great earth quake and they bore no fatalities.

The dead bodies of two Russian envoys have been taken out from the debris.

On the instruction of prime minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif one more jet has been sent to Katmandu along with the aid relief.

 The aid relief sent by National Management Authority contained 3,000 small tents and 15 large sized tents. The Chairman Major General Asghar Nawaz and other senior officials also visited there.

 UN maintained that the victims of the for the earth quake, an appeal had been made for 415 million dollars but only 22 million dollars have been made available.

 The UN Resident Coordinator for Nepal Mr. Jamie Mc Goldrick explained that efforts to accomplish target for 415 million dollars must be ‘dramatically ramped up’.
