Everyone knows there’s a seats shortage in different departments of Karachi University especially in Visual Studies. Every year hundreds of students are turned away. In this year, more than a thousand students appeared in exam in which 300 passed it, this ensures that they were eligible to get in the department but only 117 students were selected among them. It is something that happens every year.
Now the question is, what are the other students lacking? What are they missing to make the final cut?
May be Nothing.
It has been happening since many years. Yes, it is about the shortage of the seats that should be increased. There is vacant space a lot in Karachi University, there more departments can be made easily or existed ones can be extended. There may be scarcity of resources; Government ought to play its role to resolve this problem as soon as possible so as students would not be turned away by the dint of the unavailability of seats. Here, another curse that is overwhelming our education system is ‘Reserved Seats’. Seats are sold it’s the fact that everyone knows but no action has been taken yet against it. Who is responsible for the future of the deserving students?
The dean and head of the department suggest the students to change their field or to try next year again. Is it the only solution?? Or is it the solution?? It seems that they have become senseless and careless over this all as their pockets are being filled. I just want to put your attention into this crucial matter. If this all will keep practising in our most prestigious university then what can we expect from others.
