Rawalpindi blast was not suicide attack: CPO Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: City  Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Akhtar Hayyat Lalika has said that the blast in the city outside Imam Bargah was not a suicide attack.

The CPO said that the bomb was planted outside a house near the Imam Bargah.

Lalika informed the media that seven people were killed in the blast near Chatia Hatian in Rawalpindi.

Earlier it was reported in the media and police had confirmed that the blast was a suicide attack.

A high-intensity explosion on Friday night in Rawalpindi area of Chatia Hatian outside Imam Bargah killed eight and injured 17 others, TV channels reported.

At the time of the suicide attack, Milad event was going on in the Imam bargah.

The injured and the dead were shifted to the District Head Quarter Hospital.

Emergency has been declared in the hospital.
