LAHORE: Akramul Haq alias Akram Lahori is scheduled to be executed today at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore but his lawyers moved to get a stay order against the execution just hours before the scheduled time.
According to reports, his counsel and brother of Ikramul Haq reached the jail hours before the hanging and submitted the pardon by the aggrieved party’ to stay the execution hours before the scheduled time.
They said Akram Lahori was someone else and that there was only one murder case against Akramul Haq.
Lahori was convicted and sentenced to death in 2001Â by a special anti-terrorism court of Faisalabad over charges of murdering an innocent citizen.
His death warrants were issued on Monday which were to be acted upon today in Lahore but execution was postponed after the pardon by the aggrieved party was shown to the magistrate.
