Hijack threats in ‘Bengali’ raise alarms for Air India’s New Delhi-Kabul flight

NEW DELHI: Indian authorities have been alerted for a possible attempt to hijack state-owned Air India flight en route New Delhi to Kabul, media reports said.

Indian intelligence agencies have issued alerts to the Bureau of Civil aviation security (BCAS) that one of the Air India flight from New Delhi to Kabul was facing hijack threats, NDTV reported on Sunday.

Following the reports, Indian authorities have taken all security measures at the airports across the country. However, the specific flight number was not disclosed as far which is facing hijack threats.

Police claimed that a threatening telephone call was received in ‘Bengali’ at Kolkata office of the state-owned Air India regarding its hijacking

A high-level meeting was reportedly organised to review security measures by the officials of BCAS, CISF and AAI in Kolkata on Saturday night.

It is pertinent to mention here that the hijacking threats was came forth when Indian government started preparation to welcome its Republic Day and US President Barack Obama.
