PESHAWAR: Security forces have intensified the operation against militants across the country, as five militants including a key commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed on Saturday in a clash between security forces and militants in Bazargari area of Frontier Region, Peshawar.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the clash took place near Darra Adam Khel, wherein five militants, including key commander Mustafa alias Manan of Darra Adamkhel Taliban were killed.
Media reports said Mustafa is a brother of Umar Mansoor — the alleged mastermind of the Peshawar school massacre. In the clash, two security personnel were also injured.
In related development, at least 20 militants were killed when jet fighter hit targets in different parts of Tirah Valley.
The escalation comes in the wake of the recent attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School that killed over 140 people – most of them children.
In another incident, at least two suspected militants and two policemen were killed on Saturday in the Saro Kalley area of Charsadda district, sources said. On a tip-off security personnel carried out an operation in the Badi Kor area of Saro Kalley.
During the operation, a gunbattle erupted in which two militants and two policemen were killed.
