FAISALABAD: First-ever in the history of Pakistan, two criminals got executed in night timings on Friday (today) when Punjab government approved legislation to allow implementation of death penalties rather than traditional timings which was defined in law before sunset.
Aqeel alias Dr Usman, the convict of attack on Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi in 2009, and another terrorist Arshad Meherban who attacked former military president Pervez Musharraf were hanged till death in Faisalabad district jail today.
The expressions of both terrorists were ‘extremely confused and depressed’ when they were taken near the gibbet in Faisalabad Jail under tight security arrangements, local media reported.
Dr Usman and Arshad Meherban were reportedly begging apologies for their lives with jail officials, Dunya News reported.
It is noteworthy to mention here that some government sources claimed to airing the execution videos of the terrorists on Pakistani channels in order to give clear message to all criminals and terrorists.
Relatives of the criminals were present outside the district jailed where the terrorists hanged to death. However, no official statement came up whether the dead bodies to be handed over to the relatives or not.
