KABUL: At least five Taliban insurgents were killed on Tuesday in a US drone strike in Shirzad district in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, foreign media reported.
The unmanned aerial attack said to be carried out on an insurgent hideout in eastern Afghanistan on Monday while those killed in the air strike were members of Afghan Taliban.
The provincial governoer’s spokesperson, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai , said that three Taliban group commanders and two fighters were among the deceased in the aerial strike.
Attacks by Taliban insurgents have witnessed significant hike in last two weeks in the federal capital Kabul.
Commander of the Afghan National Army  Gen. Douod Shah Wafa revealed that an intense attack was carried out by militants in Bala Murghab district located in north-western province of Badghis early on Tuesday morning.
Heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades were used by the Afghan Taliban in the attack on guard posts, killing at least six soldiers.
