LHC summons govt, Imran replies over Nov 30 march

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday summoned reply from federation, Punjab government and PTI chief Imran Khan up to November 28 following a petition filed to stop November 30 march in Islamabad.

The full bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan conducted hearing of the petition here on Monday.

During the hearing, the counsel of the petitioner, AK Dogar requested the court that the government should be directed to take steps for ending the sit-ins and speeches against the integrity of the country.

The counsel of the petitioner contended that the situation would have been different if high court had given any clear verdict against the sit-ins on August 14.

He said that the opposition daily talks of toppling the government while it has also announced for civil disobedience. He said that Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri talk about toppling the government which is against the article 6 of the constitution, saying that the opposition should be loyal to the government.

Upon this, Justice Khalid Mehmood remarked that the opposition should be loyal to the people instead of being loyal to the government, saying that article 6 of the constitution applies when the constitution is abrogated or suspended.

The court inquired from the petitioner as to what steps have been taken by the government with regard to civil disobedience, saying that the court gave its verdict on August 14 but the government threw the decision of the court in winds. The court said that government should itself take steps

The court, while issuing notices to federation, Punjab government and Imran Khan, adjourned hearing of the case till November 28.
