Dubai test: New Zealand set Pakistan 261 target after Taylor ton

DUBAI:  New Zealand declared its second innings at 250 for 9 to set Pakistan a target of 261 in 72 over, following Ross Taylor brilliant knock to score his 12th Test century and his first against Pakistan.

Taylor and Mark Craig put up 60 for the seventh wicket at almost four an over, and after both departed to the leg spinner Yasir Shah in the space of three balls, Tim Southee swung left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar for three successive sixes to bring the declaration from Kiwis skipper Brendon McCullum.

Pakistan faces a challenging total to chase in just 72 overs, as it opener Taufiq Umar fell early. Pakistan spinners Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Baber shared nine Kiwis wicket, as Shah grabbed 5/79  while Baber clinched 4/96.
