Stoning Farzana to death outside LHC: ATC sentences four culprits to death

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Wednesday handed down death sentence to four culprits for murdering  25-year-old Farzana Iqbal, who was stoned to death outside the Lahore High Court on May 27, 2014.

Those who have been sentenced to death for three times include Farzana’s father Azeem, her brother Zahid, a cousin and former husband.

The five people, including the victim’s father Azeem, two brothers Ghulam Ali and Zahid Iqbal, former husband Mazhar Abbas and a close relative Jahan Khan were charged  with the murder of Farzana, which the prosecution proved against the four accused.

However,  her brother Ghulam Ali was sentenced for 10 years behind the bars , besides one lkh  rupees fine.

It is to be mentioned here, Farzana Parveen was murdered on May 27 outside the Lahore High Court in a so-called honour killing by more than two dozen attackers, including her brother and father, for marrying against her family’s wishes.
