LB polls in KP thru biometric system: ECP to ask Centre to provide Rs2.5 billion

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission has reportedly decided to ask the federal government to provide it the Rs2.5 billion required for holding local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) through biometric system.

According to ECP sources, some Rs 2.5 billion are required for procurement of biometric machines and other expenses  for holding the LB polls in the province.

The ECP has decided to ask the federal government to provide the budget required for installation of the system.

 It is to be mentioned here that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government had earlier asked ECP to hold the local bodies elections in the province through the system to ensure greater transparency in the process.
