ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid on Friday contacted Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Sirajul Haq, Hasil Bazenjo, Aftab Sherpao and other, as the Prime Minister tasked the minister to consult political parties heads regarding the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner.
According to sources, before leaving for China on a three-day official visit, the Prime Minister tasked Pervaiz Rashid to contact opposition parties leaders and other in order to evolve consensus on any name to be appointed as permanent CEC.
Following the assignment, Rashid on Friday made contacts with Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Sirajul Haq, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Chief Maulana Fazul Rehman, National Party chief Senator Hasil Bazenjo, and Qaumi Watan Party head Aftab Ahmed Sherpao regarding the appointment of CEC.
After consulting the leaders and soliciting their suggestions, the minister will report to the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, NP chief Senator Hasil Bazenjo told a private news channel that he had given the name of Justice Tassaduq Jilani for appointment as CEC.
