A memorable Test series for Pakistan

It all started when Pakistan down and out after facing white wash in One Day Internationals (ODI) and also suffered defeat in the lone Twenty 20 contest against Australia. Pakistan Cricket Board who ruled out Younis Khan from the test squad but soon realizing the mistake and inducted him back in Test series against Aussies.

Younis Khan, who was very disappointed after dropping from ODIs and also very angry over PCB make him do what he haven’t done in his entire carrier against the Aussies. The star batsman not only showed his anger against the visitors but also shown the class performance which not only entered his name in the history but also made him capture some unique record for his country.

Former skipper, Younis haven’t entered the triple figures against Australia until the first test match of the series, he have become the second batman in the world and the only Pakistani batsman to score three consecutive centuries against Australia.

Younsi Khan scored the highest number of runs by any Pakistani batsman in a two-match series with total of 468 runs. He not only become the highest runs scorer in two-match series but also broke the record of Great Sachin Tendulkar.

Pakistan have to wait for 34 year to get whitewashed victory against Australia. That’s not all Skipper Misbah ul Haq who is very famous for his ‘tuk tuk’ played a blinder to score fastest half century against Aussies as well as go on to equal the record of fastest century record of Sir Viv Richards’ by completing the century in 56 deliveries.

The second Test victory by 356 runs in Abu Dhabi was memorable it is the first series victory over the Australia, in 20 years and also It was the biggest win over any team by runs margin. Azhar Ali and Younis Khan also made the record partnership for the third wicket for Pakistan.

Misbah-and-Azhar

Misbah-ul-Haq equaled the most wins record by a Pakistani captain with 14 wins. Imran Khan and Javed Miandad also won 14 Test matches as captains.

This test series will also be remembered as the most centuries scored by Pakistani squad in any two-match Test series.

Sarfraz Ahmed also registered his name in the record book by scoring century on 80 balls, fourth fastest by Pakistani, until Misbah dropped him one spot down to five by scoring fastest century by Pakistan batsman.

This is the end of the Pakistan verses Australia 2014 series. One thing is good about the series is that Green Shirts bounced back after been outclassed by Australia in the ODI and T20.

Now next and the last challenge before the World Cup 2015 is left for Pakistan is New Zealand which is scheduled to begin this month.
