Alarming increase in crimes rate in Punjab

LAHORE: A person is killed in every hour and fifteen minutes in Punjab, the most-populous and prosperous province of Pakistan, a report issued by Investigation Wing of Punjab police said.   

According to the report, a person is killed in every hour and 15 minutes in t he last seven in Punjab while overall as many as 4753 people were killed during the period in question.

Some 1900 cases of rape were reported during the period out of which 193 women were subjected to gang rape.

As many as 17673 vehicles were snatched/stolen during the period while a total of 1994 cases of streets crimes were reported. Some 194 people lost their lives while resisting robbery bids.

The report also highlighted the inefficiency of Police as 60 accused fled from police custody.

As per the, some 3308 more cases were reported during the first seven month of 2014 when compared with the corresponding period of last year.
