PTI postponed dialogue with govt: Jahangir Tareen

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen said on Saturday the dialogue with the government had been postponed till the time the police released the arrested workers.

Jahangir Tareen, a member of its dialogue committee, said that the party had decided that they would not continue their dialogue with the government until the arrested workers were freed.

He claimed that thousands of party workers were arrested. “In such an environment, no dialogue can be held.”

He also said that their sit-in would continue till the resignation of the Prime Minister.

MNA Arif Alvi said PTI workers were arrested from their homes illegally.

Hamid Khan, another PTI leader, said the party would not be deterred by such tactics of the government.

IG Islamabad said policemen were only performing their duty.

Sidelined PPP leader Babar Awan said while talking to TV channels that the country was being turned into a police state. “The fine of violation of section 144 is just Rs200,” he said.

Earlier, Islamabad sessions court ordered to send 100 arrested PTI workers to jail for 14-day judicial remand.

According to a report, PTI workers stopped a prison van carrying their fellows.

PTI leader Arfi Alvi said that police arrested the party workers under article 144.

Heavy contingent of police was summoned in F-8 Kachehri to maintain law and order.
