Senator Sajid Mir rejects ‘enforced politics, shariah’ in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani Senator Professor Sajid Mir, during his address on the third consecutive day of joint session of parliament, said that they do not accept enforced politics like we did not accept forced Shariah.

The joint session of the Parliament continued for the third consecutive day here on Thursday with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in attendance.

During his speech, Professor Sajid Mir said that they wanted shariat but it should not be enforced. He said that they didn’t even accept the forced shariat of Sufi Mohammad, how did Imran and Qadri think that they would accept enforced politics.

Prof Sajid Mir said that Imran and Qadri need to be dealt strictly like Taliban as they both want people to rule people according to their choice and under their imposed system.

He also criticized Imran Khan and said, “Imran Khan is not a politician, he is basically a bowler and is bowling bouncers and no-balls.”

He further said that the demand of prime minister’s resignation is unacceptable. He said that Islam can only be implemented through democracy.

Sajid Mir said that both PTI and PAT want to impose their agenda which is not acceptable to the people of country. He said cricketer turned politician Imran Khan is playing foul politics while the self proclaimed Sheik-ul-Islam Tahirul Qadri is misleading the nation in the name of religion. He said these two leaders are semi political Taliban and the government will have to take some sort of action if the ongoing dialogue process did not produce any result.

He said the objectives and Modus Operandi of the sit-ins are contrary to democratic norms. Protest is a democratic right but nobody can be allowed to launch an assault or revolt on the federal capital. He said demands of dissolution of Assemblies and resignation of Prime Minister from his office will only weaken the system and benefit the undemocratic forces.

Meanwhile ANP leader Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel said the presence of saboteurs on the constitution avenue is creating difficulties in the movement of the people. He said the government should hold dialogue with the protesting parties but at the same time it should ensure its writ and take necessary action against those taking the law into their hands. He said Imran Khan dubs himself as the leader of young generation and he should have furnished his demands keeping in view the constitution.
