COAS Raheel Sharif sends message to PTI, PAT for mediation: Tahirul Qadri

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri on Thursday claimed that the Pakistan’s top military official, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, sends message to PAT and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to act as mediator.

Tahirul Qadri, while addressing the PAT workers lodging sit-ins in Islamabad, said that ‘Army Chief sent a message to play as mediator between Pakistan government and protestors.’

PAT chief said that the Army Chief sought 24 hours from the protesting parties in order to present formula to counter all difference amongst Pakistani government, PAT and PTI.

However, Qadri announced to authorise the COAS General Raheel Sharif to act as ‘mediator’ between PAT and Pakistan government.

He directed his party workers to wait for next 24 hours as the PAT agenda will be presented during the upcoming talks with COAS General Raheel Sharif including the demands.

During his address, Qadri said that Pakistani government have kneeled down before powerful public pressure created by peaceful protests in order to get their basic rights and justice.

He alleged that the current situation proved the defeat of rulers as they requested help from Pakistani military after failing to crush the public opinion via different tactics.

Significant developments emerged amid intense political situations in Pakistan as COAS General Raheel Sharif entered in the ground for mediation on reported call of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to counter the crisis via negotiations.
