PIA to induct second Airbus A320 in fleet

KARACHI: Pakistan’s national flag carrier will induct another Airbus-320 in its fleet to augment its strength in a move to overcome its staggering losses.

The airbus will reach Islamabad from Shanghai which will be inducted in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in first week of August.

The Airbus-320 has taken on six-year ‘dry lease’. Third Airbus will be inducted in PIA fleet in September while the first Airbus was inducted on June 29, 2014.

Once considered as a jewel in the crown of regional airlines, PIA has been in dire strait due to continuous operational losses and past efforts to restructure the airline to make it a profitable entity have so far been unsuccessful.
