ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau’s decision has been praised by the Transparency International to raise awareness among schoolchildren about corruption with the help of provincial education departments and textbook boards.
“This will go a long way in imparting moral values and ethics to our young generation. It is also in the line with your prevention and awareness strategy,” said TI adviser Syed Adil Gilani in a letter written to NAB on July 2.
“We suggest you to direct the Higher Education Commission to include anti-corruption topics at the college and university levels,” he added.
NAB in its meeting on June 29 had sought the help of education departments and textbook boards to incorporate anti-corruption themes in the curriculums of Class I to X to stamp out the menace affecting society.
The bureau will suggest the provincial education departments and textbook boards to incorporate poems and short stories raising awareness among schoolchildren about corruption and its adverse effects on society to motivate them to play their role in eradication of this menace after entering their professional life.
“We want to create awareness among young generation against the menace of corruption,” NAB spokesman Ramzan Sajid said.
