Model Town Judicial Commission summons Sanaullah, Tauqir Shah

LAHORE: The judicial commission, constituted to conduct an inquiry into Model Town tragedy, on Saturday summoned former Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and Dr Tauqir Shah, the former Principal Secretary to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in personal capacity tomorrow (Monday).

The judge of the judicial commission, Justice Ali Baqir Najfi ordered the former Punjab law minister, Rana Sanaullah and Tauqir Shah, the former Principal Secretary to Punjab Chief Minister to appear before the commission and submit all the information pertaining to the Model Town tragedy.

The commission ordered the provincial secretary health to present postmortem reports of the persons killed in the incident and details of the injured before the commission on Monday.

The commission also directed the secretary Bailulmal to submit details regarding aid to the affected people of the incident. The commission also summoned home secretary for his opinion on the issue of conducting investigation from the joint investigation committee.

Inspector General of Punjab Police Mushtaq Sukhera appeared before the one-judge commission and submitted his report before the commission on the Model Town tragedy.

“Is this report up to date?” asked Justice Ali Baqir to Sukhera who nodded his head in yes. The tribunal asked TV channels to submit footages.

Justice Ali Baqir also expressed his dismay at non-appearance of DCO Lahore before the commission. “I had asked DCO to present updated reports on daily basis. Why he didn’t show up,” he asked.

On the other hand, no representative of the Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran appeared before the commission despite letter was written to them by the judicial commission conducting inquiry into Model Town tragedy.
