LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Friday summoned resignation from Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah from his position over Model Town tragedy, saying that he will not hesitate to offer any sacrifice for the sake of transparent investigation of the Model Town tragedy.
Rana Sanaullah resigned as Law Minister after Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif asked him to do so. Principal Secretary Dr Taukir was also removed from his office.
Shahbaz Sharif sought resignation from Rana Sanaullah over Model Town tragedy in which nine people lost their lives.
Sources said Rana Sanaullah has tendered resignation and sent it to Shahbaz Sharif. Punjab government sources said that Rana Mashhood, provincial minister for education and sports, is likely to be made law minister
Earlier, while addressing a press conference in Lahore, the Punjab Chief Minister said that he has asked Rana Sanaullah to resign and has also removed his secretary who had been serving with him for the last 15 years.
The Chief Minister added that one more victim of the Model Town incident expired on Friday and he is in favour of a judicial inquiry and if the MQI is not satisfied with a High Court commission they may approach the Supreme Court as well.
