KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has formally asked its senator Faisal Raza Abidi to resign from hisĀ senate seat.
The party’s secretary general Pervez Ashraf formally sent the request to Mr. Abidi who was reportedly having some differences with the party.
The decision came after he allegedly fought with party senator Rehman Malik.
Faisal Raza Abidi served as Karachi region president for PPP and has deep rooted influence in the city.
Abidi resigned from his post in 2012 but this is the first time that he is being requested from the party to render his resignation.
Faisal Raza Abidi angered his party by acting independently for about a year and trying to become a bridge between Shia and Brelvi religio-political parties.

Talking to a TV channel, Faisal Raza Abidi confirmed that he is being asked to tender his resignation by the party said that he is ready for all sorts of inquiry if his party wants.
He not only agreed to resign from his seat in senate but announced to retire from all sort of politics.
AbidiĀ demanded that his party must tell him how and when did he act against party policy and discipline.
