ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday visited Islamabad’s fruit market, where 21 people were killed in a powerful explosion in the morning.
Speaking to reporters, Khan pledged that government would bring the perpetrators of the terrorist attack to book, saying most of the victims were poor labourers.
“I don’t know what are motives of terrorists. But we will bring them to justice one day,” he said.
The bomb, he said, was concealed in fruit crate.
Replying to a question, he said it’s premature to say who is behind the deadly blast.
He confirmed that 21 people have been killed and 86 are injured.
Taliban, who are holding peace talks with the government, disassociated them from the blast describing it as an “un-islamic” act and against the Shariah.
“Death of innocent people in attacks on public places is deplorable,” Shahidullah Shahid, the spokesman of banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said in a statement in which the militants also disowned Tuesday’s bombing in Balochistan which left 18 people dead in Sibbi.
