Washington: As Nokia went through the MWC without unveiling any Windows smartphone but report recons that the company is eyeing to launch its new window smartphone Lumia 630 or Lumia 930 at Microsoft event.
A new report claims that Nokia will take the wraps off the Lumia 630 and Lumia 930 Windows Phone handsets at Microsoft’s BUILD 2014 conference, which takes place in early April. The two smartphones have leaked multiple times so far and are expected to make their official debut soon.
My Nokia Blog claims that the Nokia Lumia 930, which goes by the codename “Martini,” could launch as the company’s new flagship for the international market. Previous reports have speculated that the Lumia 930 would come as the global version of the Lumia Icon, which is only available in the U.S. through Verizon Wireless.
The Lumia Icon has seen great demand and is highly regarded as one of the best Windows Phone smartphones currently available on the market, but its Verizon exclusivity limits its success.
Nokia is rumored to launch the Lumia Icon globally as the Lumia 930, but with a modified design. No specific details are available regarding this redesign, but the smartphone should boast a premium aluminum body and high-end specs.
The Nokia Lumia 630, meanwhile, is also referred to as “Moneypenny” and has leaked several times, with various images and specs trying to paint a picture of what to expect. The handset passed through the FCC last month, suggesting an imminent launch, and well-known tipster @evleaks has also posted a photo of the purported handset earlier this month. The Lumia 630 is rumored to come with a dual-SIM option and feature on-screen navigation keys.
Other rumored specs for the Nokia Lumia 630 include a 4.5-inch FWVGA display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 or 400 processor with 1GB of RAM, and Windows Phone 8.1 on board. Connectivity options should include LTE, HSPA+, EVDO, and TD-SCMA support.
If Nokia does indeed plan to unveil the Lumia 930 and Lumia 630 at Microsoft’s BUILD 2014 conference, we’ll learn all about it early next month. In the meantime, it is advisable to take all leaks with a grain of salt.
