KARACHI: The Supreme Court has given one week’s time to the concerned authorities to appoint Inspector General Police (IGP) , media reported on Friday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassuduq Hussain Jillani took notice of vacant post of IGP while hearing suo moto case of Karachi’s law and order situation.
In today’s proceedings, CJP ordered Advocate General (AG) Sindh, Abdul Fateh Malik to inform the name of IGP within one hour.
He ordered him to call Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah and present the name today.
The CJP also ordered AG to present the notification of appointment of IGP on Monday in the apex court.
But AG told CJP that Sindh CM has reservation on three names provided by federal government and asked for one week’s time.
In response, the apex court granted one week’s time to the Sindh Government for appointment of IG Sindh.
