Karachi: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Thursday has given ordered Secretary Establishment to appoint Inspector General Police (IGP) immediately.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani was hearing Karachi law and order implementation case here at SC Karachi registry.
The Chief Justice expressed annoyance when acting IGP Iqbal Mehmood presented the report in the court.
The bench asked why you (Iqbal Mehmood) presented the report instead of new IGP?
Iqbal Mehmood informed the court that he is doing additional duty as permanent IGP still not been appointment.
The court said that it showed the non-seriousness of the authorities concerned that still acting police head was serving at the key post in the province despite deteriorating law and order situation.
The court directed Secretary Establishment to appointment IGP as early as possible and presented the report in the court.
