ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday has ordered provincial governments to carry out Local body (LB) election till November 15 of this year.
The SC has given this verdict over various appeals filed in the apex court regarding holding up LB election in the country.
A three-member bench of the SC presiding by Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Jillani.
The SC in his short order said that according to the constitution Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is the responsible for carrying out LB election in the provinces.
The provincial governments are not eligible to conduct delimitations in their respective province as per law.
The apex court also ruled that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Punjab and Sindh are now bound to hold LB election in during five months.
