ISLAMABAD: Significant development has been made in ongoing peace efforts today, the Pakistan’s federal government formed a new four-member committee for negotiations with Taliban militants.
The Pakistani government unveiled four names included in the new committee for holding dialogues with militants comprising of different organised groups across the country.
The newly formed committee members include Secretary Ports and Shipping Habib Ullah Khattak, Secretary FATA Arbab Arif, Prime Minister’s Additional Secretary Fawad Hussain and Rustam Shah Mohmand.
The committee would hold peace talks with the militants under chair of Secretary Ports and Shipping Habib Ullah Khattak, sources said.
The Taliban intermediators headed by Maulana Sami ul Haq expressed satisfaction over the new committee members; meanwhile Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan also announced agreement on all names in governmental team.
