ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) today declared a clause of the Muslim Family Law Ordinance 1961 as un-Islamic.
CII Chairman Maulana Mohammad Sherani said it is not mandatory under Sharia to seek permission for the second marriage from first wife.
The CII unanimously declared the clause as un-Islamic.
The said clause makes it mandatory for a man to seek permission of his wife for a second marriage.
Maulana Sherani said that Islamic Sharia Law does not require permission from a wife before a man enters into another marriage.
He added that a husband is bound to do justice to all his wives as per the Sharia.
