ISLAMABAD: A day before he is to appear in the court, Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has said that al-Qaeda and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) could attack General (retd) Pervez Musharaf, former president and the army chief facing series of cases including treason charges.
In a letter to the president, the prime minister and the defence ministry on Monday, the interior ministry said the security agencies fear that Pervez Musharraf could be targeted like Salman Taseer, former Punjab governor who was assassinated by his own guard in the country’s capital in 2011.
The letter stated that Musharraf’s security may have the al-Qaeda, the TTP sympathizers, adding that the former president could be targeted by a road side bomb blast.
