KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and United Nations goodwill ambassador for polio immunization in Pakistan, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari said that she is deeply grieved over abduction of polio workers in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The PPP leader called for the immediate recovery of the kidnapped polio workers and urged the KPK government (led by their political rival party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) to take action against the terrorists harming polio campaign in the province.
In a twitter message, she expressed deep sorrow over the abduction of volunteers in Dera Ismail Khan district of KPK and said that polio workers are serving nation but still the terrorist groups are attacking them.
It must be remembered that last month, a World Health Organization (WHO) report declared KPK’s Peshawer as the ‘largest reservoir of polio’ while militants are targeting the vaccination teams blaming the US forces of using it as an intelligence collecting technique.
