PESHAWAR – Police officials have been restricted from holidays for the security of Peshawar polio team, media reported.
According to Interior department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a formal request has been sent to the Federal Interior Ministry to jam all the mobile networks on 9th February from 7 am to 5 pm in Peshawar.
These extra measures have been taken following recent attacks on polio teams by Taliban.
Polio vaccination is extremely important to eradicate the disease from Pakistan. But recent friction has made it extremely difficult for the polio workers to do their job.
Pakistan is one of three countries where poliomyelitis (polio) is still categorized as an endemic viral infection.
