SHARJAH : Pakistan cricket team won the 3rd and final Test against Sri Lanka by its astonishing chase of a target of 302 runs in just 57.3 overs after lunch break played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan’s comeback in the test was amazing as they chased this double lead with a run-rate of 5.25, the highest in a successful chase of a 300-plus target, and the heroes of this heist were Azhar Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed and the captain Misbah-ul-Haq .
Islanders were 133 for the loss of 5 wickets when today’s play started but Abdul Rehman’s tricky bowling limited them to 214 runs. Which took their total lead over Pakistan to 302 and pundits were already predicting that the match would be a draw.
But the result was a win for Pakistan, thanks to Azhar Ali’s 103, Sarfraz Ahmed’s 48 and Pakistani Captain Misbah-ul-Haq’s 68 runs, Pakistan reached the target in less than available time. The much criticized Pakistani Skipper saw the situation through the end.
Pakistan’s batting was already facing problems, as they could not even make the first innings Sri Lankan score of 428 and then Sri Lankans again took the test to last day by batting smoothly till Pakistani bowlers stopped them before lunch today. A. Rehman took 4 wickets while Saeed Ajmal and Talha took 3 wickets each.
Pakistan already won the one day series with Islanders, but the second test draw made this one a ‘do or die’ contest for Green Shirts. With this win the test Series is a draw (1-0-1) between the two South Asian Nations.
