Islamabad: The accountability court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) references against former president Asif Ali Zardari until January 18.
Accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir was hearing the case pertaining to the five references against Mr Zardari.
The former President accompanied by party workers and leaders appeared before the accountability court today.
The councils of Zardari, Farooq H. Naek and Amjad Iqbal Qureshi said that former president still not indicted in polo ground reference and it now will decide on January 18.
Naek said that Zardari was ill and has serious security threats but he was presented in the court because he respect the courts.
Naek said that the former president was due to be indicted in two cases but he asked the court to delay because he wanted to debate in the cases.
Being president, Mr Zardari enjoyed constitutional immunity for five years and the cases against him remained pending.
The accountability court last month had reopened five NAB references– SGS, Cotecna, ARY, polo ground and Ursus tractors– against Zardari.
