MURREE: Over a dozen people were killed as two passenger vans plunged into a ravine after colliding with each other in Murree, the hilly area and famous tourist resort of Pakistan.
Officials said that 14 bodies had been recovered from the gorge.
The state radio reported that 21 injured have so far been shifted to PIMS and PolyclinicHospitals in Islamabad.
Officials at the hospital said nine of the injured were in critical condition. They added that of the injured 20 were men and six were women.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed DCO and CPO Rawalpindi to personally supervise the rescue operation. He also directed the administration to use all available resources to speed up the pace of relief and rescue operation.
He expressed concern over traffic arrangements during inclement weather and asked the administration and traffic police to formulate a comprehensive plan in this regard.
