Peshawar: The government of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KPK) on Saturday held a trial voting under the biometric system on the instruction of Election Commission of Pakistan.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa election commission, the polling is being held at village council Badhai, ward Wadpagga and Sir Buland Pura in Peshawar.
This exercise was meant for checking the success of the biometric system in the holding of error–free, transparent polling and thwarting bogus voting in the impending local bodies elections in KPK, sources said.
The main purpose of this activity is to ensure holding of transparent and accurate polling in the upcoming local bodies election.
The thumb impression and national identity card of voters will be verified through biometric machine after which they would be sent in polling booth to cast their vote.
The chief election commissioner of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk will also visit the polling stations to check the system.
