ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan is observing season of protests in its three provincial capitals including Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar on Sunday by prominent political powers on national issues.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is holding protests in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh and Awami National Party (ANP) organised public gathering in Peshawar of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province.
Public meetings called on by the political parties on different national issues as PTI protesting against inflation hike, MQM for alleged controversial local bodies ordinance while ANP was observing the day of remembrance of its deceased leader, Basheer Bilour.
PTI and its coalition partners, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Muslim League (AML), leaders addressed the public meeting in Lahore’s Meenar-e-Pakistan and put severe criticism over the federal government in lack of control on inflation in the country.
PTI chief Imran Khan addressed the participants and demanded immediate reformation in economic system which could facilitate the locals in Pakistan.
Various political leaders were also seen on the stage and addressed the political workers en masse including JI chief Syed Munawar Hassan, AML chief Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed while senior PTI leaders as Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi were also present.
Large number of activists from the MQM are protesting before Press Club at Karachi against the local bodies’ ordinance passed by the Sindh’s provincial government and termed it as the ‘black law’.
MQM’s leader Haider Abbas Rizvi demanded the higher authorities for new census and clarified that the party would not oppose the process under supervision of armed forces.
Rizvi alleged that the ruling party in Sindh, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), empowered the lords and landlords to gain mandate in the province.
ANP was organising the first anniversary of Basheer Ahmed Bilour who was killed in a suicide bomb explosion during the electoral campaign in Peshawar.
ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan chaired the event along with senior party leaders while a large number of the political party’s workers were also present.
Asfandyar Wali Khan criticised the ruling political party of KPK, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and challenged the opponent political party’s chief Imran Khan to answer questions raised by him.
He said that PTI chief should inquire about the inflation rate in KPK despite protesting over the issue in different province.
