DUBAI: Often criticized for not empowering and encouraging youngsters, Pakistan Twenty20 captain Muhammad Hafeez has dispelled this impression in the first ODI against Sri Lanka.
Hafeez, who himself scored a big hundred to lead the team with a massive total over 300 runs, helped out junior and debutant Sharjeel Khan as well as Suhaib Maqsood.
Sharjeel and Maqsood both played really well under the continuous guidance of senior Hafeez.
“Hafeez’s performance was laudable whoe got Sharjeel and Suhaib along to develop their innings,” former coach and chief selector Mohsin Hasan Khan said.
He was hopeful that Hafeez would continue his laudable performance in next matches too.
Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the first ODI of the series, comprising five matches in total.
Mohsin, however, laments that both the junior batsmen failed to hit the centuries which he though would be a booster for them in future.
