ISLAMABAD: Barrister Akram Sheikh has been officially appointed by the Pakistani government on Monday as special prosecutor in the former President General (r) Pervez Musharraf treason case.
Ministry of Law has released an official notification regarding the appointment of a special prosecutor in the case.
The notification was released after final approval of the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
The Sindh High Court (SHC) had adjourned the hearing of a plea till November 26 which was submitted from the former president for removal of his name from Exit Control List (ECL).

Akram Sheikh had already confirmed the acceptance of government’s proposal followed by a meeting with PM Sharif pertaining his appointment on the prominent position in the Musharraf’s treason.
It should be mentioned that the name of three judges for special court has been approved by the Pakistani premier to hold trial of Musharraf under Article 6 of the constitution.
The judges include Justice Faisal Arab from the Sindh High Court (SHC), Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar from the Balochistan High Court (BHC) and Justice Yawar Ali from the Lahore High Court (LHC).
