ISLAMABAD: After mounting pressure from the opposition benches, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif finally advises President Mamnoon Hussain to summon sessions of the parliament’s both houses.
It was recommended that the Senate session should be summoned on December 02 while the session of the National Assembly on December 05.
Earlier, the opposition parties submitted requisition for calling the session of the National Assembly after submitting the requisition for calling the session of the Senate.
Nine-point agenda was attached to the requisition including the Rawalpindi incident, drone strikes, price-hike and disorder in the country.
As many as 88 members of the National Assembly signed the requisition which include the members of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and other parties.
The agenda over the national issues including Rawalpindi incident, drone strikes, price-hike and disorder in the country, national security and political situation in the country was attached to the requisition.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) despite sitting on the opposition benches did not join the opposition parties for submitting the requisition.
It is worth mentioning here that the 48 Senators have already submitted requisition for calling the session of the Senate. The Senators demanded of the government for calling the emergency session of the Senate over the burning national issues.
The opposition parties submitted the requisitions for calling the sessions of both the houses of the parliament as no step was earlier taken by the government for calling the sessions of the Senate and the National Assembly.
