LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Najam Sethi has told Misbah-ul-Haq to take rest for the upcoming series with Proteas and appointed Muhammad Hafeez as interim captain in One Day International (ODI) format.
As reported by GEO News, due to the recent debacle in series with Proteas, the captain of Green Shirts Misbah ul Haq has been told to take rest. In his absence, Muhammad Hafeez has been nominated to lead the squad.
Misbah was leading the side in a recent home series played on Arabian soil in which Green Shirts crashed to 4-1 loss. He was heavily criticised on failing to lead from the front which led to deteriorated performance.
However, Misbah ul Haq denied any such rumours claims that he won’t be captaining the squad. He said he will not back down. Sources, claim that delay in announcement of the squad was because of this step taken by PCB chairman.
However, Sethi has recently refused the media reports for removing current Pakistani skipper Misbah-ul-Haq from captaincy of team in ODI format.
