MERANSHAH: The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the banned outfit, has appointed Mullah Fazlullah as its chief on Thursday.
Mullah Fazlullah, also known as Mullah Radio, has been appointed by the executive committee of the organisation after the death of its former chief Hakimullah Mehsud in US drone attack last week, Reuters reported.:
“Fazlullah is the new TTP (Pakistani Taliban) chief,” the ttp spokesman said. “The decision was taken at a shura meeting today.”, the news agency quoted the spokesperson.
Mullah Fazlullah was involved in high profile killing of Major General (retd) Sanaullah Khan Niazi, the General Officer Commanding Swat, in Upper Dir via IED explosion as well as admitted fugitive attack on Malala Yousafzai on raising voice for girls’ rights.
Subsequently, he reportedly shifted to Afghanistan’s Kunnar province for saving himself from large-scale military operation by Pakistan Army in Swat.
It should be mentioned that the appointment been made over the time when Pakistani government reviewing the commencement of peace dialogues with TTP.
He is also known as the “Radio Mullah” because of his inflammatory radio broadcasts across Swat Valley of Pakistan.
Earlier, reports emerged that Mullah Fazlullah was severely injured along with his 9 confederates in a fierce attack carried out by Afghani Taliban in Nuristan province on establishing a militants’ center in the Kantar and Nuristan provinces.
However, the recent development indicated for his occurrence and significant position in the militants’ organisation.
