ISLAMABAD: An agreement has been signed between Riphah International University and a Singaporean Company for detailed architectural designing of a new campus of the university at Islamabad.
The agreement was signed by Pro-Chancellor of RIU, Muhammad Hasan Khan and Chief Medical Planning architect of Singaporean Company CPG, Martan L de Castro. Professor Dr Anis Ahmad, vice chancellor, Asadullah Khan, executive director, Rehan Hasan, Director, Riphah Institute of Media Sciences (RIMS) and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The new campus will be built on an area of 1.2 million square feet to accommodate about 10,000 students. It will include a 600-bed hospital, a medical college, a dental college and about 70 departments of seven faculties.
In fact it will be a full-fledged state of the art ‘education city’ with allied facilities of a gymnasium, sports grounds, swimming pool, community development centre, NGO Resource Centre, etc. Its master plan has been designed by a consortium of four Pakistani and foreign companies of international repute.
The construction will start in April next year and is likely to be completed within two years, says a press release.
