ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Friday has ordered the Election Commission Pakistan (ECP) for organisation of local bodies’ election on the dates provided by the provincial governments.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has ordered the ECP for holding local bodies’ election in Pakistan according to the dates given by three provincial governments.
The provincial government of Sindh provided the date for the election on November 27 while the Balochistan and Punjab confirmed for December 7.
ECP requested the court for provision of additional time as they are facing difficulties in the organisation of the election.
However, CJ Iftikhar M. Chaudhry rejected their demand, order, “No more relief could be given; organise election.”
