LAHORE: The recent hike in the petroleum and electricity prices has triggered a countrywide protest in the country.
The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz led federal government has raised a total of about Rs. 15 within a short span of four months in petroleum prices.
A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court regarding hike in the prices.
The petitioner says that hike in the petroleum prices would cause increase in inflation and unemployment.
Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party and Jamaat e Islami have already announced to hold protest across the country calling for bringing down the prices.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that PML-N government was engaged in inflation drone strikes over its citizens.
The is the fourth hike in the petroleum prices by the present regime, which economists say is a condition set by International Monetary Fund (IMF) for release of loan.
A woman made an interesting comment over the continuous surge in the prices.
“The government should present gift of cycles to the citizens,” she observed.
