PESHAWAR: At least 37 persons were killed and 70 severely injured in an explosion occurred in Meena market near the All Saints Church situated in Peshawar city of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Terrorists continued their bloody activities in KPK province by carrying out powerful explosion in the market connected with famous Qissa Khawani Bazar located in the provincial capital city.
Earlier on Sunday, twin blasts occurred on All Saints Church which resulted killings of 83 persons belonged to Christian community while 200 were badly injured.
Large number of police officials and rescue teams reached the affected site, started shifting the injured persons and dead bodies to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.
Some eyewitnesses told the TNT representative that the explosives were planted in a vehicle parked near the area’s police station.
Hospital sources said that four more persons succumbed to injuries while 2 women and 6 children are amongst the deceased.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials said that at least 225 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack.
Police sources said that powerful explosives destroyed 6 cars, 1 rickshaw and 4 motorcycles in the market.
Merchants Association of Meena market claimed that the blast demolished 30 shops completely while 55 shop partially affected.
